Photographer Jerry Liebling is one of the most revered teachers at Hampshire College and is directly responsible for a series of students becoming documentary filmmakers, including Ken Burns, cinematographer Buddy Squires, and directors Roger Sherman, Kirk Simon, and Karen Goodman. This Hampshire panel tributed the man whose classes helped his students "see" the photograph, ultimately changing the direction of the American documentary in the eighties and beyond. Not only did the panelists speak about their years at Hampshire in the seventies, but they also screened films they made as students for Professor Liebling.
